Pošćensko Big Lake is located near the village of Pošćenje (Šavnik municipality) at the foot of Durmitor, the transition to a plateau. It is one of the smaller lakes. Dimension is 210mx150mx3, 5m. Once there was a lot bigger, but the swamp vegetation contributed to its reducing. The green lake receives water bz snow dissolving, rain and three smaller sources. Summer is perfect for swimming and fishing, and in winter is frozen. This lake could have a significant role in the development of rural tourism in this region. Another advantage is the proximity of Zabljak (8km).

Stari Bar

Posted by Ivan Stojanovic On 15 December 2009

Stari Bar The Old Town of Bar is situated at the foot of Mount Rumija, on a steep cliff inaccessible from three sides. It seems that inaccessibility and a spring of drinking water were the reasons why Old Bar was, unlike other town on the coast, built at a distance of 5km from the coast.
This town, whose inhabitants earned their living from craftwork, trade and olive processing was built through the centuries. The oldest, medieval parts of the town are on a protruding ridge, where the town gate from the 9th-11th centuries with façades from the 14th century built during Byzantine rule can be found. In the 15th century the Venetians took over rule of the town, and a century later the Turks came and stayed there until the late 19th century.
Facilities inside the walls were built with dressed stone. Among the public buildings there were palaces, Turkish baths, mills and clock towers. The following religious buildings can be found there:
- The Church of St. Teodor from the 9th century that was later named the Church of St. Djordje
- The Church of St. Marko from the 13th century
- The Church of St. Veneranda from the 14th century

Mogren

Posted by Ivan Stojanovic On 11 December 2009

Mogren These two beaches stretch from cape called Mogren to the Avala Hotel. Their natural conditions make them the most attractive beaches, with a sand of medium particle size, both on the beach itself and in water. The beach is well exposed to sun and southerly wind. From backside it is protected by the hill of Spas whish is overgrown with dense pine and oak forest.
The beach is a accessible by narrow path going through Avala hotel complex. It is 150 m away from Budva´s old town. Mogren IMogren consists of two sandy beaches 350 m long, which are connected with a tunnel. These beaches were named after the Spanis seaman Mogrini, who had a shipwreck and landed at one of them. As a sign of gratitude he built church devoted to St. Antony.

Dajbabe Monastery

Posted by Ivan Stojanovic On 10 December 2009

Manastir Dajbabe Not far from Podgorica, on the way towards Bar there is a monastery Dajbabe which in its foundation has a shape of a cross and represents an interesting sacral edifice to visit. It is located below Dajbaba hill, which dominantly raises above Zeta valley.

The monastery Dajbabe is a monastery dedicated to Uspenje Bogorodice (Falling into sleep of Holy Mother of God) and it got the name by the village in which it is located. It was founded in 1897. Initially only the space of the cave was used for the church in order for it to be expanded later and took the look of the basic church with chapels. The only visible part of that church is outside the cave and that is a spacious entrance porch with two belfries. The protector monk Simeon Popovic adjusting the pictures to natural shape of the rocks while painting the interior of the monastery.
For a visitor from any part of the world this monastery will represent un unforgettable experience, considering the fact that it is a piece of work of nature and man (the church is located in the cave)
