Dobrilovina Monastery

Posted by Ivan Stojanovic On 24 December 2009

Manastir Dobrilovina The monastery Dobrilovina which is dedicated to Sveti Djordje is located on a plain above River Tara. That is a monastery from the period of Nemanjici, which with its appearance reminds you on the monastery Moraca, so you can often hear that people also call it Mala Moraca (Small Moraca). Present church is mentioned for the first time in XVI century, and its first renewal dates from 1609. In front of the entrance it has a wooden belfry. During XVIII and XIX century monastery was an extremely important cultural center. In the period of the WW II it was neglected and its renewal began once again in 1989. As sleeping quarters the church temporarily uses the building of the ex primary school, until the church’s sleeping quarters aren’t renewed.
