There are numerous Christian churches in Montenegro, many dating back to ancient times. However, the largest Orthodox church in Montenegro is very recent. The temple is located in Podgorica, in the settlement Momišići and is dedicated to the resurrection of Christ. Its construction began in 1993. It looks like a cross, with a large dome in the middle and three openings for the bells. Symmetrically side by side there are two bell towers, one is dedicated to St. John Vladimir, and the other to St. Simeon Mirotocivi. The foundation of the temple has raised the Russian Patriarch Alexei, and partly painted crypt is located beneath the temple. For every bell and cupola is one cross on which rejects the light that gives a particular sacred look.
