In 2003 the city had a total population of 58,212.<\/p>\n<p>Nik\u0161i\u0107 is located in Nik\u0161i\u0107 plain, at the foot of Mount Trebjesa.<!--more--> It is the center of Nik\u0161i\u0107 municipality (Population of 75,282), which is the largest municipality in Montenegro by area. Nik\u0161i\u0107 is the second largest city in Montenegro, after Podgorica, and is an important industrial, cultural, and educational center.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Nik\u0161i\u0107 was built in the 4th century by the Goths.
