The wells (village Boljevići near Ostros) were built a long time ago, it is speculated as early as 1001, when the famous well was built next to the Prečista Krajinska monastery, which, according to tradition, Vladimir built for Kosara. The depth of these wells is about 10 meters. The unique way of construction and their age-long duration amazes everyone who has the opportunity to see them.
There is a legend (some say it’s not a legend but a true story) about these 12 wells. Namely, the guy was looking for a girlfriend, but the girl’s father set a condition. He was supposed to build a well deeper than the well that Jovan built in Kosari, which was 12 meters deep. However, it never succeeded beyond 10 meters of depth. Then, in his anguish, he thought of digging 12 wells. His efforts were rewarded with the hand of the girl, and the 12 wells became the property of the families of their twelve children, as many as they gave birth to during their long and happy marriage.
